So here’s the story about The Floridian and its–let’s say interesting–relationship to alcoholic beverages. I’ll try to be succinct, while at the same time making sure to cover the pertinent details and frequently asked questions. Here goes:
The Floridian does not serve nor sell beer or wine. But please don’t despair. Read on.
Luckily for us, we have one of St. Augustine’s foremost Speakeasy establishments located just across the threshold from the main dining room. We call it The County Line, and for all intents and purposes it is our bar. A semi-autonomous business within a business, The County Line acts as your source for those delicious fermented grape juices and those malty, hoppy, barley-y beverages that we all love so much.
So what’s all this mean for you? Well, if you so desire a beverage of this sort while visiting us, we must ask that you step across the line to The County Line, proceed to peruse our drink list, ask some questions, try some wines and find something to suit your tastes. Finally, you make a selection BY THE BOTTLE ONLY, and that goes for wine as well as beer. The bar’s license does not permit us to sell individual glasses of wines or draft beers to the dining room or front patio. If visiting the bar and staying put within its confines, this last rule does not apply. Confusing? We’re sorry. We promise it’s not our fault.
To summarize, Floridian patrons must walk into the bar, buy a BOTTLE of beer or wine, and then head back to their table to drink it. Simple as that. The County Line is proud to offer a premium line of Floridian and Southern Craft Beers and Microbrews, as well as many unique and hard-to-find wines, most made from organic, sustainable or biodynamic grapes. Feel free to check out the lists below before your visit. We’re sure to find something you’ll love. Cheers!
